On the Catwalk: Karl Lagerfeld Summer 2011

Never one to do things by halves, Karl Lagerfeld presented a huge cruise collection that traversed several resortwear looks - from beach babe to Navajo boho.

  • The opening passage of super-light semi sheers in delicately dappled prints arrived in a palette of cool ice-cream pales, including peach, pistachio, lemon and strawberry
  • Washed and sun-bleached denim anchored this section - key pieces included the cropped jean jacket, miniskirts and high-waisted boot-cut jeans
  • Key shapes included tunic tops, loose-fit slacks, long sweater dresses and signature cropped and boxy jackets
  • Swimwear highlights included the frilly gingham bikini and the scoop-necked swimsuit
  • Crisp white cotton ensembles harked back to classic cruisewear - clean white shirts, ankle-grazing slacks and tiered skirts
  • For evening, it was signature monochrome and heavily embellished surfaces decorated with scaley paillettes, floral lace and laser-cut leather trims
  • A Western/Navajo passage offered a youthful daywear direction. Key pieces included brown denim miniskirts, suede shirts and jackets, and patch-pocket jeans
